Mici and Tim are kept in unsuitable conditions for more than two decades. They urgently need your support!
For more than two decades Mici’s and Tim’s days are marked by boredom and stress. For two bears, Mascha* and Mitko our help came too late. Mascha died in a barren cage next to a restaurant, where she was kept for over 30 years. Despite showing clear signs of distress and the urgent need for medical attention, the authorities in Slovenia turned a blind eye on her suffering. Bear Mitko was euthanized just one day before the deadline to improve his living conditions, which had for years been inadequate, expired. An inspection was already scheduled and his confiscation process was to be initiated. Mitko was euthanized before he could ever experience a life worthy for a bear.
FOUR PAWS has offered the Slovenian authorities to rescue all captive bears and bring them to one of our sanctuaries, so that they can spend the rest of their lives in species-appropriate conditions and receive the attention they need . Because they have not taken up this offer, two bears have already died.
We need your urgent help to make the rescue of Mici and Tim happen! You can change Mici’s and Tim’s life!
Please raise your voice for the captive bears in Slovenia and urge the Slovenian authorities to finally end the private keeping of bears in Slovenia and order a confiscation of Mici and Tim. Only then can FOUR PAWS rescue and accommodate them in one of our species-appropriate sanctuaries.
*The lack of interest for the bears by the Ministry of Natural Resources and Spatial Planning is made clear by recent confusion. Bear Felix was wrongly presumed dead by the authorities. He had been mistaken for his partner Mascha, who had unfortunately passed away in February 2024. Only later was this misinformation corrected, when it was found that Felix was still alive during an inspection. The good news is that the owner finally agreed to hand Felix over to FOUR PAWS.
