End Puppy & Kitten Farming in Australia

End Puppy and Kitten Farming in Australia

Mother dog with puppies in Australian puppy farm

Every day across Australia, hundreds of puppies and kittens are sold on platforms like Gumtree and Trading Post. But these glossy photos hide terrible suffering and the cruelty of puppy and kitten farming that is rife across Australia.

Trapped in filthy cages, breeding dogs and cats are treated like machines—forced to produce litter after litter for profit. They are denied love, socialisation, or sometimes even basic vet care. Their broken bodies are repeatedly abused for profit while their puppies and kittens are sold online, advertised as from a ‘happy home’.

Australia’s weak laws and poor enforcement allow the cycle of cruelty to continue.

Australians love their pets as family, so we must step up and demand that they receive better protection from exploitation.

It’s time for government action! Add your name today and join our call for:

  • Mandatory Licensing for ALL people breeding and selling dogs and cats online.
  • Strict regulations for online sale including Breeder ID number, microchip number to ensure full traceability, as well as stronger enforcement and compliance.
  • Stronger laws to end puppy and kitten farming, and backyard breeding across the country.

The Federal Ministers for Agriculture and Communications, and state ministers can make this happen. Sign the petition to demand urgent action to end puppy and kitten farming in Australia.
